이 연작은 작가가 삶의 깊은 여정을 디지털 프린팅, 반응형 설치라는 서로 다른 형식을 통해 표현한 작업입니다. 각각의 매체는 작가의 경험과 정체성을 다양한 방식으로 시각화합니다.
작가는 타국에서 디아스포라로서 자라며, 또래 집단과의 교류가 거의 없는 환경에서 성장했습니다. 이러한 경험은 작가에게 집단과 소속감에 대한 거부감을 심어주었습니다.
본국으로 귀국한 후, 작가는 새로운 문화와 충돌하며 획일적이고 군사적인 사회에 적응하는 데 어려움을 겪었습니다. 이 과정에서 작가는 인종, 국적, 성별, 문화, 학교 등 어떤 것도 자신을 완전히 설명해 줄 수 없다는 것을 깨달았습니다. 작가는 눈과 귀를 닫고, 입을 닫았습니다. 이러한 경험은 작가의 삶의 전체 과정에서 지속적으로 드러나며 현재도 같은 문제로 고통을 겪고 있습니다.
하지만, 이러한 과정을 통해 작가는 궁극적으로 자유를 발견했습니다. 작가는 타인의 시선으로부터 영향받지 않고, 홀로 안전하게 존재할 수 있는 방법을 찾아냈습니다. 이 연작은 그러한 자유로운 존재로서의 작가의 과정을 시각적으로 표현합니다.
각 작품은 작가의 개인적인 경험과 정체성의 탐색을 반영하며, 관람객들에게는 자신만의 정체성을 찾아가는 여정에 대한 고민과 영감을 제공합니다. 이 연작을 통해 작가는 자신의 삶의 특별한 순간들과 내적 변화를 공유하고자 합니다.
작품은 크게 5가지 단계로 이루어져 있습니다.
첫 번째 단계: 이 사진은 작가가 실제로 겪었던 상황을 그대로 담고 있습니다. 작가의 삶의 특정 순간을 포착하여, 현실의 감정과 경험을 생생하게 전달합니다.
두 번째 단계: 여기에서는 현대 기술, 즉 인공지능을 활용하여 작가의 상황을 다른 방식으로 표현했습니다. 이는 실제와 가상의 경계를 넘나들며, 작가의 삶을 새로운 관점에서 재해석하는 시도입니다.
세 번째와 네 번째 단계: 이 사진들은 실제 상황과 가상 현실에서 작가의 감정을 중심으로 재구성한 것입니다. 인공지능을 통해 만들어진 이 이미지들은 작가의 감정의 본질을 드러내며, 현실을 초월한 감각적 경험을 제공합니다.
마지막 단계: 사진들을 넘어서면 실시간으로 인공지능을 통해 카메라 속 영상이 변화가 됩니다. 관람객은 이러한 과정을 통해 현실과 멀어지며, 작가의 작품처럼 스스로 ‘이상한 존재’가 되는 경험을 하게 됩니다.
생성 인공지능은 단순히 인간의 노동력을 대체하는 것을 넘어서, 현실 자체를 왜곡할 수 있는 능력을 지니고 있습니다. 이러한 상황 속에서 우리는 자신의 '이상함'을 인정하고, 이를 보호하며, 다독여야 합니다. 그리고 이것은 우리와 기계를 구별해주는 가장 중요한 열쇠가 될 것이라고 작가는 생각하며 이것이 바로 진정한 자유로 가는 길이라고 믿습니다.
우리가 우리의 '이상함' 때문에 타인의 시선을 의식하고 고통받더라도, 결국 우리는 나아질 것입니다. 바로 우리 스스로의 '이상함'이, 우리를 기계와 구분해내고, 우리가 꼭 필요한 존재임을, 증명해내는 도구가 될 것 입니다. 이 연작은 바로 그러한 생각을 시각적으로 표현하고, 관람객들에게 자신만의 정체성과 자유에 대해 생각해 볼 수 있는 기회를 제공하려고 합니다.

This series represents the deep journey of the artist's life expressed through different forms such as digital printing and reactive installations. Each medium visualizes the artist's experiences and identity in various ways.
Growing up as a diaspora in a foreign country, with little interaction with peer groups, instilled in the artist a sense of aversion to collectivity and belonging.
Returning to their homeland, the artist struggled to adapt to a uniform, militaristic society, clashing with new cultures. This journey led to the realization that no singular aspect—race, nationality, gender, culture, or education—could fully define them. The artist chose to close their eyes, ears, and mouth to these constraints. These experiences continue to manifest throughout the artist's life and are a source of ongoing struggle.
However, this journey ultimately led to the discovery of freedom. The artist found ways to exist safely and independently, unaffected by others' perceptions. This series visually represents the process of becoming such a free being.
Each artwork reflects the artist's personal experiences and exploration of identity, offering viewers inspiration and contemplation on their journey to self-identity. Through this series, the artist shares special moments and internal transformations of their life.
The works are divided into five stages:
First Stage: This photograph captures a specific moment in the artist's life, vividly conveying real emotions and experiences.
Second Stage: Here, contemporary technology, namely artificial intelligence, is used to represent the artist's situation in a different way. This blurs the line between reality and virtuality, reinterpreting the artist's life from a new perspective.
Third and Fourth Stages: These images, created through artificial intelligence, reconstruct the artist's emotions in real and virtual situations. They reveal the essence of the artist's feelings, offering a sensory experience beyond reality.
Final Stage: Beyond the photographs, real-time AI transformations occur within the camera's view. This process distances the audience from reality, mirroring the artist's work and allowing them to experience becoming an 'otherworldly being'.
AI, transcending mere replacement of human labor, possesses the capability to distort reality. In such a context, we must acknowledge, protect, and comfort our 'strangeness'—a key distinction between us and machines, and, as the artist believes, the true path to freedom.
Despite the pain of being conscious of others' perceptions due to our 'strangeness', we will eventually improve. Our 'strangeness' will serve as the tool that differentiates us from machines and proves our indispensable existence. This series aims to visually express these thoughts and provide viewers with an opportunity to reflect on their own identity and freedom.

정해진 것을 싫어하고 늘 새로운 영역을 공부한다. 최근의 관심사는 AI와 AI Generative Art다. 평소 정치와 역사에 관심이 많아, 과거를 통해 현재 AI의 등장을 해석하는 등 통합적 인사이트를 갖고 있다.
뭐라도 프로젝트에서는 각종 영상 촬영/편집, 공간 기획, 3D 그래픽 구현을 담당하고 있다.
