전시 예약하기 전시 <Stranger>는 세 명의 작가, 재홍, 수지, 소영이 각자 이동과 변화를 겪으며 새로운 환경에서 '이방인'으로서 느꼈던 낯선 경험을 탐색하는 전시입니다. 재홍은 밀라노에서 서울로, 수지는 서울에서 런던으로, 소영은 경주에서 서울로 이동하며, 새로운 환경에서 이방인으로서의 복잡한 감정과 인식의 변화를 경험한 바 있습니다.
새로운 환경에 놓인 이방인은 모든 것이 낯선 데에서 오는 외로움을 겪지만, 모든 것이 새롭기 때문에 여러 감각을 일깨울 수 있습니다. 이를 통해 주변 환경과 일상적인 사물과 상호작용하고 새로운 관계를 탐색해 나가게 됩니다. 당연하게 여겼던 것들에 대해 의심하며 일깨운 새로운 감각은 존재론적인 깊은 성찰로 이어지며 이방인이지만 한층 자신을 더 발견하게 됩니다.
현대 사회, 특히 대도시에서의 삶은 익명성이 강화되고 개인은 점점 고립되어 모두가 어느 정도 이방인이 됩니다. 이전의 무감각한 일상은 새로운 변화와 환경에 따라 감각이 되살아나고, 이는 우리의 인식과 경험에 근본적인 영향을 미칩니다. 이번 전시는 이러한 현상을 탐구하며, 이방인으로서의 경험에서 유래한 지극히 개인적인 이야기가 모두에게 공감이 되는 순간이 되길 기원합니다.
The exhibition <Stranger> explores the unfamiliar experiences felt as 'strangers' by three artists, Jaehong, Soojee, and Soyoung, each undergoing transitions and changes through their movements to new environments. Jaehong moved from Milan to Seoul, Soojee from Seoul to London, and Soyoung from Gyeongju to Seoul, each experiencing complex emotions and shifts in perception as strangers in new settings.
Being placed in a new environment, a stranger encounters loneliness emanating from everything being unfamiliar, yet the novelty of everything awakens various senses. Through this, they interact with the surrounding environment and everyday objects, forging new relationships. The questioning of what was once taken for granted, coupled with the awakened senses, leads to profound existential reflections, allowing the stranger to discover more about themselves despite the alienation.
In modern society, particularly in the life of a megacity, anonymity is intensified and individuals become increasingly isolated, turning everyone to some extent into strangers. The previous insensitivity of everyday life revives senses with new changes and environments, fundamentally impacting our perception and experience. This exhibition explores these phenomena, aspiring for the intensely personal stories derived from the experience of being a stranger to resonate with everyone.
